    Having done some of these steps with machines it was really interesting to see it done by hand. I used to work in a cobbler shop that was in my family for quite a few years. We didn't build them from scratch but we did strip them down to the welt (and sometimes had to re-welt) I don't think I have seen a double soled shoe in over 15 years.
